To use the program point your browser to http://bhima.core:8080 2003.02.25 -- The updated version of CCP4, version 4.2.2, should now run on the Alpha computers, as well as Linux and SGI. 2003.12.22 -- Ribbons 3.21, a bugfix for Ribbons 3.20, is now available for SGI, Linux, and Mac OS X. This fixes errors with map appearance in 3.20. The layout of some menu items has also apparently been changed, so beware! The setup process has been changed to "setup ribbons", "setup ribbons old", and "setup ribbons new", though version numbers will still currently work. 2004.02.11 -- A program is available to convert O plot files to POV-Ray format. On a Linux or SGI computer, simply type "plt_pov". 2004.02.11 -- DVD burning is now available for Linux. Use the command "burndvd" on the workstation named loon. The DVD writer is the drive on top of the workstation. NOTE: When backing up the contents of a network directory (e.g., /csb/something), cd into the directory before running burndvd. 2004.03.22 -- A new version of SnB is available for Linux, SGI, and Alpha. Use "setup snb" to set up. The previous version for SGI and Alpha is available by using "setup snb old". 2004.04.28 -- Some electrostatic calcuation and display features have been added to a special version of PyMOL. See the Core PyMOL page for a few more details. Use "setup pymol-electro" to run. 2004.05.17 -- BnP, a new GUI system for running Shake 'n' Bake and PHASES, is available on Linux systems by issuing the command "setup bnp". In a subdirectory with your SnB-ready data files, simply type "BnP" to begin. 2004.05.17 -- CCP4 5.0, compiled with greatly enlarged maximum # of atoms and reflections, is now available. It is supported on IRIX, Linux, the new Linux queue machines, and the Alpha queues bhima and janus. Note that this is a very new release, so bugs are guaranteed. Having taken that warning to heart, type "setup ccp4 5.0" to use. 2004.05.26 -- The latest release of O, containing bugfixes and new features, is available. Type "setup ono9" to use, or type "setup ono9old" to continue using the previous version 9 release. Setup uppsala software as usual, then run "xplo2d_Ov9". The old version for use with previous O releases is still available as "xplo2d". 2004.06.25 -- Phaser, the presumed successor to BEAST for molecular replacement, is now available in the Core. Type 'setup phaser' on a Linux, SGI, Alpha, or Mac OSX workstation to use. Please note that this is a full release, not a demo version. See the Core documentation for more information. 2004.07.09 -- POVScript+ 2.02 is now available for Linux and SGI. This version contains both bugfixes and new features, and is now the 'setup povscript' default. See www.stanford.edu/~fenn/povscript/ for changes. The old 1.71 version is still available by typing 'setup oldpovscript'. 2004.09.17 -- GIMP 2.0, a free image manipulation utility, is available for Linux workstations in the Core. Type "setup gimp" to use; this will override any older locally installed version. The program is also installed on the Windows workstations. 2005.01.06 -- A standalone version of pdb_extract has been installed as an addition to the standalone pdb_validate. Type either "setup pdb_extract" or "setup pdb_validate" to use either program. 2005.05.09 -- Reserve CSB Instruments and Rooms online at http://www.csb.core/info/signup.html 2005.05.23 -- A preliminary version of PHENIX, the crystallographic package for automated structure determination, is available in the Core on Linux workstations. Type 'setup phenix' to use. 2005.09.22 -- An experimental version of Kevin Cowtan's Pirate for phase improvement is available on Linux machines when running CCP4 5.0.2.
