When I began a video glossary project, the 2005 skating season was already near the end. In fact, all videos were made in one week before the Yale Ingalls rink closed for the 2005 season.
Choregraphy of skating program is to assemble individual elements according to the choice of music. These elements include for example spirals in both left and right feet, back and forward directions, and inside and outside edges, spread eagles and inna bauer, spins in sit and standing positions, and of course jumps. Magic moments are created when each element is melt into music melody. A beautiful spiral for example is simply like water flowing through Niagara falls - long and extended and yet powerful. Skating to the Titanic theme sound "My heart will go on", I open the program with a left forwards sprial - a single push into left fowards spiral lasts 17 seconds, covering nearly three quaternary ring surface. In the move, both legs are locked at knees and free leg extends with the pointed toes. To my knowledge, this is the longest spiral in a program by any skater and this is the biggest opening move in my program.
All videos are in small format 320x240.
