We had a mild winter before New Year. After New Year, it turned to be the coolest winter I ever experienced. The record cool temperature outside my house was -5 F before the windchill factor, and probably between -10 to -20 F after conpouding with the windchill factor. Iciclles are everywhere. The ice in my fish ponds is now about 12 inch thick with a small eye of breathing hole underneath bridge, generated by de-icer, which circulates the warm water from 4 feet below the surface to a floating device at the surface. Fish who survive this winter will do very well in the further according to the Darwin's nature selection law. The good news is - we are going to have a heat wave next week and the temperature is likely above teens and possibly near or above freezing.
