Uppsala Software News @ 980714 ****************************** http://xray.bmc.uu.se/usf/ **************************** * MASKIT Version 0.3 ******** This is a new program (part of the RAVE package). It calculates a density correlation map between two different crystal forms that can be used to define an averaging mask that is valid for both crystal forms. MASKIT (like it's sister COMA, which calculates correlation maps for NCS-related molecules) uses the algorithm of Randy Read (as described in the DEMON/ANGEL paper). Works very well ! * MAMA Version 5.2 ****** At last: a new mask overlap removal option that solves most of the problems that people have had in the past with the older options. The command is called OVerlap UNit_cell and is described in the MAMA manual. * COMA Version 0.6 ****** Minor changes. * MOLEMAN2 Version 2.1.4 ********** Fixed bug in SElect DIst command (wrong parameters were passed). * MAPMAN Version 5.4.1 ******** Fixed a bug which caused a crash (on ALPHAs, but not on SGIs) if all points in a map had the same value (thanks to Joe Wedekind). * XPLO2D Version 2.8.1 ******** The AUTO command can now also generate dictionaries for the *new* style O regularisation option (*NOT* for the old Hermans & McQueen "Refi" option !!!) Requires O 6.2.2 or newer. * New style Refi dictionaries ***************************** HIC-Up now also allows you to generate new O-style regularisation dictionaries (see XPLO2D news above) through a simple web-interface. (Only for O 6.2.2 or newer.) ASSUETUDE: custom or habit ("it is a good a. in our lab to ...") ASTEREOGNOSIS: having lost the ability to recognise the shapes of objects by touch ("due to severe a. we had to use a microscope for mounting our crystals") ATRICHIA: baldness ("due to a., X had to use whiskers for seeding") AUTOPTIC: pertaining to evidence based on observation ("we have collected an a. body of evidence to support our theory") AXIOLOGY: a branch of philosophy dealing with values ("R-a. is another word for studying R-values") AZYGOUS: odd, unpaired ("radicals are characterised by an a. electron") BACILLARY: rod-shaped; pertaining to bacilli ("the crystals of this b. protein were b.") BARMECIDE: deceptive, false ("it is easy to draw b. conclusions from a single observation")
