dna1

This is a simple example which displays a piece of dna where each base is uniquely colored.

To run the demo, just type: midas -f dna1 (on a DEC Alpha, replace "-f" with "-fullscreen")
In order to see which colors represent which base, select and label atoms.
Type "label" on the command line, then press the ALT key.
The mouse is now in picking mode. Click the mouse on an atom and then press "return".
The atom along with its base name will be labeled.
command: label (press and hold the ALT key and pick an atom) On an SGI workstation, by typing the number "1", a small section of the DNA will be sent through RibbonJr to the program Inventor on the Silicon Graphics. It can then be rotated as a solid model interactively.
Look at dna1.script to see the RibbonJR command used for this. The "mark" command was used to mark the selection of atoms for displaying in RibbonJr.
To see the entire DNA molecule again, give the midas command: command: display
