CSB Filesystems -- what's new 2004.11.04
Summary of changes that have been or are being made to CSB filesystems.
-
Most filesystems moved to a new server, providing more space and better
performance (especially when used from linux computers). The new system
includes almost completely redundant components, providing greater security
against catastrophic failure.
-
Snapshots of most filesystems are taken early each morning. These are
available to users until the next snapshot. This allows for recovery of
files that were deleted, overwritten, or lost to hardware, software or human
failure.
-
/srv/frames and /srv/temp are greatly expanded. Deletion
policy for /srv/temp is changed to 14 days after last access.
-
Some group filesystems have been reorganized and combined.
-
Occasional, and hopefully brief, service interruptions may appear as
problems are discovered and surmounted.
-
Documentation is being revised. You should revisit this and associated pages
while changes are being put into effect.
