FUJI Pictography Printer
A FUJI Pictography 3000 color printer is in Core Common area
and made available to CSB core users by Tom Steitz. This printer uses
special photographic paper and creates the highest quality images available
to CSB core users.

Image file formats should be either rgb, tiff, ps
or eps. (When using showcase on an SGI save file as
eps.)

The file you want to print has to be world readable (Set umask to 022).

If you want to print things made in lets say word, powerpoint .... you
have tyo follow these steps (Thanks to Carsten Schubert):
a) install a HP PostScript printer on your system
b) print to a file, make sure color printing is enabled
c) verify that the file is OK on an SGI using xpsview/showps
d) remove the PCL header/footer from this file!!! This is something
like
ESC%-12345X@PJL JOB
@PJL SET RESOLUTION = 600
@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE = POSTSCRIPT
e) Now the file should be prepared to be read in by the colorbyte SW

On the Macintosh save from Adobe Photoshop as EPS
or TIFF. If TIFF is chosen slect IBM-PC format (not
MacIntosh).
Please sign the log book on the printer when you use this printer.
Printing Guide

Log on to csbgly (in a directory that others have read permission
in) and type:
setup colorbyte or (source /srv/local/setup/colorbyte.set)

Type:
colorbyte

Select Open under the File pulldown menu in the new window
that appears.
(Currently only rgb, tiff, and ps will open)

Use the browser window that appears to select your file.

Select Color under the Image pulldown menu if you want to
adjust color or brightness.
Click on the center dot and raise it to brighten or lower it to darken
image.

Select Print under the Printer pulldown menu.

In the Print window select:
400 dpi
Special Half under Size
Fit (this will increase the image size to fill the window while
maintaining aspect ratio)
Manual
Under Scale change Mag to a whole number that is the
best fit
Click in center of image and move to top of window.
Click Print
Note: If the print job seems to hang (no messages in the monitor)
the print queue may have been disabled. You must do the following:

Kill your print job (lpstat, cancel fuji-xxxx)

Re-enable the printer queue (setup colorbyte; enable_fuji)

Re-submit your job by clicking the Print button in colorbyte.
